Neighborhoods of the Houston Suburbs with Great Walkability

Hi friend. Today I am bringing you a blog post where I focus on the neighborhoods of the Houston Suburbs with great walkability. This list almost mirrors another post I am writing next, when we see what are the most popular neighborhoods (master planned communities) in the last 90 days!

1. The Woodlands | Creekside Park, East Shore, Grogan’s Mill, and Sterling Ridge.

Why The Woodlands – Nothing really compares to The Woodlands. It writes the finest definition of “master planned community”. The Woodlands did everything right and then some as it was being developed over the last 60 years. Located about 30 miles north of downtown Houston, Texas, The Woodlands officially began in 1974. The Woodlands is a master-planned community with approximately 118,000 residents and approximately 2,100 businesses. The Woodlands is well known for its extensive parks and recreation, golf, corporate headquarters, schools, places of worship, shopping, dining, hospitality, healthcare and much more. Today, there are 148 parks and 220 miles of hike and bike trails.

2. Cinco Ranch | Also found in Katy: Kings Lake, Grand Lakes, Firethorne, and Seven Meadows.

Why Cinco Ranch – If you are looking for the most established neighborhood in Katy, then Cinco Ranch is the neighborhood for you. The history of Cinco Ranch goes back to February of 1984 when the largest raw land transaction in the history of Houston took place when Cinco Ranch Venture purchased Cinco Ranch, a 5,000 acre property. Over the years the land acquired for Cinco Ranch grew to about 8,092 acres making it one of the largest master planned communities in Houston. Cinco Ranch has over 11 community pools, a golf club, an 18-hole golf course, countless pocket parks, a network of greenbelt trails for hiking, biking, walking and jogging making it possible to get just about anywhere via this trail system, tennis courts, South Lake and Park Lake, a 40,000-square-foot YMCA, and so much more. I love Katy for its walkability, opportunities, and array of shopping and restaurants! button to click for maps 3. Sugar Land | Telfair, New Territory, and Riverstone.

Why Sugar Land: Sugar Land has a hardful of amazingly master planned communities. I listed my top three favorites above, but this area is known for its easy access to downtown Houston and the Medical Center, as well as its amazing schools. Sugar Land is in Fort Bend county, which is known for its wealth and diversity. 4. Bridgeland | Also found in Cypress: Mirames, Fairfield, and Towne Lake.

Why Bridgeland – If I were to list every reason why homeowners are choosing Bridgeland, this would be one very long paragraph, but reasons include: the beauty, the nature, the amenities, the openness, 250 miles of trails, the resort style swimming pool, the year-round events, the commercial that has been woven through out the community, the 3,000 acres of dedicated open space, the 900 acres of lakes and waterways, and the feeling of the good ol’ days here in 2020. Oh and you can’t forget to mention, the convenience to Grand Parkway 99, the energy corridor, and Downtown Houston. Long story short, if you like to spend time outside, and you want to be within an award winning master planned community, Bridgeland is the place for you! button to learn more about property taxes 5. Towne Lake | Also found in Cypress: Blackhorse Ranch.

Why Towne Lake – If you love water and want to have access to a lake as a part of your daily life, Towne Lake is the master planned community for you! There are three on-site schools, a resort style swimming pool with a beach area and poolside cafe, boat rentals and water taxi, the lake is recreational friendly (boating, skiing, and tubing), there is waterfront shopping, dining and offices at The Boardwalk, there are many parks, playground, pools and miles of hiking and biking trails, a community lake house, boat marina, and a full calendar of community events. Amazing location and new home options!

6. Woodforest | Also found in Montgomery: Crown Ranch and Bentwater.

Why Woodforest – If you aren’t new around here, you know how much I adore Woodforest. With its close proximity to The Woodlands, its vast amount of amenities, it beautiful nature, the easy access to Woodforest Golf Course & Country Club, and the welcoming nature of the residents, it isn’t a mystery why. Amenities in this lovely community include: 10 neighborhood parks, the Lily Pad Splash Park, Forest Island Tennis & Aquatics Complex, The Palm center, Christine Allen Nature Park, the Stampede Sportsplex, and the Admiral Bark Park.

 7. Sienna Plantation | Also in Missouri City: Riverstone.

Why Sienna Plantation – With homes starting in the $240s and going up to the $900s, this master planned community has something for everyone. Amenities include: Sawmill Lake Club (open year round), Club Sienna Water Park (aka the Big Bucket Pool), the Resort at Sienna Springs, Steep Bank Pool (the first pool, with depths no more than 3 feet), Brushy Lake Pool, over 40 parks, multiple outdoor fitness center, a splash pad, walking and biking trails, Camp Sienna Sports Park: two concession areas, 15 lighted sports fields (softball, baseball, and soccer/football/lacrosse), Sienna Stables: The premiere equestrian facility for southwest Houston is here! These private stables offer boarding, riding lessons, horse shows, and youth horseback riding camps.
