Are you planning your visit to Conroe TX? If this your first time visiting? Do you feel lost or overwhelmed? If any of these are you, then you are in the right spot. This blog post is going to be your guide to exploring Conroe TX. I included some of my favorite restaurants, attractions, model homes to visit and even open houses! I hope you find this list helpful during your stay, and please reach out to me if you need assistance with your relocation.
Restaurants to Try
–Broth & Brine: Diverse selection of creative and healthy food, new & stylish interior.
–Red Brick Tavern: American pub style cuisine serving homemade pizzas, craft beer, unique cocktails, and live music. Very unique & nostalgic ambiance inside.
–Amore Fine Dining & Spirits: Upscale Italian restaurant known for their seafood & steak.
–Wasabi Bistro: Asian cuisine with a wide variety of specialty sushi rolls, modern atmosphere.
– Joes Italian Restaurant: A family-owned and operated restaurant serving fresh New York- style pizza, hot subs, and pasta dishes.
– Vernons Kuntry Catfish : A casual and comfortable family-owned and operated restaurant serving all your southern favorites and seafood dishes.
– Pappadeaux : A great chain with dependable service and food. They serve New Orleans-Style seafood, steaks and salads.
– The Toasted Yolk : A breakfast, lunch and drink spot serving all your American favorites remixed with fresh ingredients and all made from scratch.
– 105 Cafe : Mom & Pop cafe with a southern vintage charm, they serve homestyle American cuisine.
– Fajita Jacks : A true Tex-Mex Grill & Cantina featuring live entertainment. You can enjoy your food and drinks on their patio over-looking Lake Conroe.
– Mama Juanitas : A restaurant serving authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes. They have an exclusively Gluten-Free menu if allergens are a concern.
Food Trucks to Track Down
– Kaow: Kajun Asian On Wheels: This truck blending Asian & Cajun flavors is a must try. Everything on their menu is unique and packed with flavor, they serve loaded fries, bowls, tacos, and more! Link.
– Moy’z Street Food: Fun & creative food with a menu full of variety, there’s really something for everyone here. They’ve got a great breakfast menu that’s available all day, a ‘Mex Menu’, unique burgers & sides, and a kid’s menu. Link.
– Dracula’s Chimney Cakes: A place everyone needs to experience, they make unique food & desserts with their method of spinning dough in a helix to make a cylinder and filling them with all sorts of goodies! Link.
– Nacho Birria: Known for the best Birria in town, where their meat is roasted for 14 hours. They’re #1 seller is the Queso Birria! Link.
– BBQ Godfather: Classic barbecue with great reviews. They sell a variety of meats by the pound or in sandwiches, and they have a variety of sides to choose from! Link.
– Wiches On Wheels: Not your average sandwiches & burgers. With their signature sauces and top notch ingredient, you can’t go wrong here. There’s also loaded nachos, meaty mac ‘n cheeses, and a kids menu! Link.
– Cowboy Tacos & Burgers: American & Mexican food serving, burgers, tacos, loaded fries, tortas, quesadillas, and more. On Friday’s they have some great tamales for sale! Link
– Mexi-Rican: Blend of Mexican & Puerta Rican flavors, offering large portions packed with flavor. Their loaded rice, Lucy tacos, and empanadas are a few must tries! Link.
– Taco Tijuas: Mexican food, specializing in tacos. They also serve Birria & quesadillas, as well as family packs where you can get a huge amount of food for a very good price! Link.
Places To Experience
– Historic Downtown Conroe: This town has a wonderful vintage feel with much of its original architecture still intact. You can find many boutiques, restaurants, and even museums along these historic streets!
– 7 Acre Wood: A great kid friendly place where you can interact with animals in the petting zoo, play mini golf, or try out the zip line. If you go on Saturday or Sunday they offer pony rides for the children!
– North Lake Conroe Paddling Co.: If you’re visiting Conroe you’ll most likely want to experience the lake, and a great way to do that is on a kayak. This company rents out Kayaks for great prices and also does guided tours to help you explore!
– B.E. Winery: This 15 acre vineyard surrounded by piney woods has some stunning views, and of course amazing wine. Plus it’s located in Historic Downtown Conroe!
– That Escape Place: Now that Escape rooms are gaining more popularity they seem to be popping up everywhere, but this location offers recently expanded & updated rooms with the highest ratings in the area. It’s a great activity to do with friends or family!
Parks to Visit
– Lake Conroe Park: A 13 acre park right on the lake with fishing piers, barbecue pits & picnic tables, and a roped off beach entrance swimming area. This park is perfect if you’re wanting to enjoy the water!
– Lone Star Monument & Historical Flag Park: This is great park if you enjoy history as it showcases 13 flags from the 1830’s Texas Revolution. In the center of the park is 14 foot “Texian” sculpture made by a local artist!
– Carl Barton Jr. Park: There’s much to do at this 201 acre park, they have soccer & baseball fields, a large pond for fishing, covered playground for the kids and a few nature trails!
– W. Goodrich Jones State Forest: One of the largest urban forests in the nation, this location features many trails to explore, a few picnic areas, and 2 lakes!
– Candy Cane Park: I’ve saved the best for last with this park. This 24 acre park offers multiple playgrounds and an aquatic center, if you have kids they’ll be in heaven here. And if you need to relax there’s picnic areas near the aquatic center, and some calming trails to walk through!
Movie Theaters for those Rainy Days
– The Grand Theatre 14 - Conroe: This is a super fun & colorful movie theater. In the lobby you’ll find a big arcade area with lots of games, a classic concessions area for popcorn, candy, drinks and quick hot bites, and a super cute Tiki Bar where you can get fun drinks before your movie begins. – Star Cinema Grill: A fabulous dine-in movie theater with an extensive menu & full service bar, it truly elevates your movie experience. They have servers that take your order discretely, so you can enjoy a delicious meal & cocktails while watching your movie. They offer the classics like popcorn & candy as well. The seats are large & super comfy, with convenient tables for dining. There’s also a chic bar & lounge area in the lobby to enjoy drinks before your movie. Link.
– Xscape at 1488: This is a great newer theater that features super comfy, electric leather recliners for every seat in all of the auditoriums. They have a classic concessions area where you can get popcorn, candy, nachos, and other yummy food. They also serve beer & wine that can be taken into the movie with you. Link.
– AMC Metropark Square 10: Brand new movie theater that has a sleek & modern look. They have comfortable reclining seats, a concessions area for snacks and other yummy food choices, and a nice bar that has a lounge area so you can enjoy a drink before your movie begins. In front of the theater is a green space strung with lights, so the kids can run around before or after the movie! Link.

- Barton Creek Ranch: Newer homes with opportunity to build.
